Funeral services for Lois Mae Lammers, 100, of Graettinger will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 10, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger with Pastor John Wolf officiating. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery, Graettinger. She died on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 100.

Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., today, May 9, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Graettinger

Lois Mae Lammers, the daughter of William and Bertha (Brandt) Rutherford, was born January 7, 1924, in Gowrie, Iowa.

Lois graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1941. She attended Fort Dodge Junior College and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa in 1945. She then began teaching school during the year and working at a bakery in the summers. She moved to Graettinger to continue teaching, where she had a chance meeting with a local gentleman. On April 6, 1952, she was united in marriage to Dwayne Lammers in Fort Dodge, IA. The couple made their home in Graettinger where Lois worked at the Graettinger State Bank before starting their family. She was a homemaker until 1970 and then worked for the Graettinger Telephone Coop for 16 years. Dwayne passed away in 1995.

Lois was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church where she was active in the ladies’ group, Church Treasurer and enjoyed quilting. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Quilting was Lois’ passion, she quilted for the church missions and made each of her family members a blue jean quilt. Lois enjoyed reading, playing cards, and watching Wheel of Fortune on television. She will be fondly remembered for her chocolate chip cookies.

Left to cherish Lois’ memory are her children, Sheree Patterson of LaVista, Nebraska; Linda (Lawrence Brabham) Lammers of Valrico, Florida; Dean (Sandi) Lammers of Corning, Iowa; Rhonda Lammers of Graettinger; Inalee (Don) Crocoll of Emmetsburg, Iowa; eight grandchildren, Michael (Diana) Patterson; Kristin (Evan) Harris; Matthew (Schyler Hopkins) Patterson; Christopher (Tisha) Lammers; Jonathan Lammers; Stephen Boice; Joshua Boice; Thomas Crocoll; seven great grandchildren; a brother-in-law Ivan Lammers of Anchorage, AK; and many nieces and nephews.

She has been preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Lowene (Paul) Hasselmann; brothers-in-law Dwight Lammers and Don (Dorothy) Lammers; sisters-in-law Carroll (Brick) Tindall and Mary Lammers; son-in-law, David Patterson.
