Funeral services for Richard Ehlers, 72, of Iowa Falls, were held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor John Wolf officiating. Interment was at East Side Memorial Cemetery, Estherville. He died on May 31, 2024, at his home in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Richard Dale Ehlers, the son of Pete and Katherine Irene (Petersen) Ehlers, was born on June 7, 1951 in Mitchell, SD.
Richard graduated from Ringsted High School in 1969 before working as a Truck Driver for Barts Trucking in Truman. He also worked for Jerry’s Well Service briefly.
In his free time, Richard enjoyed repairing things, he was known as the neighborhood handyman.
Richard is survived by his sisters, Evelyn (Arlis) Lucht, Jackson, MN, and Karen (Tom) Bannor, Wallingford, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Ardel Ehlers, Fairmont, MN and Trudy Ehlers, Lakefield, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Katherine Irene (Petersen) Ehlers, and his brothers, Robert and David Ehlers.
